Women as Caregivers reflects the responsibilities of women living through pregnancy, childbirth, the care and raising of children. This painting started out to be about dancers in long flowing garments but then I started to think about all the women in my life and the care women give to raising children, the way women are represented in religious paintings of the Madonna. The purple figure with the blue circle represents pregnancy. The orange circle within the blue represents a baby. The baby is placed in front of the yellow figure and covers most of the face representing the amount of time babies require. The surrounding figures represent women and children.
